Five for Friday: #CarseatFullstop Edition

We've all seen it at one point or the other, the kiddie missiles bouncing around in the backseat of a car, or the kid on a lap, or the worst one of all...the parent driving with a kid on their lap. I don't know about you, but seeing those gets my blood rolling. Kids belong in the back of the car in a CAR SEAT!

The wonder that is Mandy, has the same reactions...and is doing something about it. She's working with as many folks as she can to spread the message that we need to ensure that all littles are in car seats. There are so many horrifying stats about children and car accidents.

A stat that scares me - only 15% of children who should be in car seats are. That's 85% of kids whose parents don't love them as much as they claim. [Yes, I got judgey...deal.] In an accident those kiddie missiles go flying...try to imagine the horror of your baby smashing though a window. Chilling.

Yes, there are folks who can't afford car seats [although being able to afford and maintain a car to me means that you should be able to afford a car seat] and that's why there's Wheel Well's project where you can donate, and they inspect the donated seat before passing it on.

So what can we do? Well we can tell those we know/see [and we all know someone or see folks doing this at our kids schools] that its against the law for their kid to not be in a car seat, to be in the front of the car before 12 and that they must protect their kid...it is your job as a parent to look after your kid. We need to call people on this reckless behaviour.
