Two weeks ago Megan gave me my first ever blogger award :) I've just taken awhile to do the things associated with it, so here goes.

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award

2. Share 7 things about yourself

3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers

4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award!

The 7 things about me will be style related, because it's a stylish award:

  1. Much as I love high heels I can't really walk in them properly :-/
  2. I tend to limit makeup to the occasional eyeliner, mascara and lip balm
  3. I love dressing up beyond my jeans/shorts and t-shirts, but when I do dress up I worry that I'm too dressed up
  4. I follow the rule that if you show a lot of leg/boob, you shouldn't show much of the other
  5. I have 3 ear piercings
  6. I feel naked if I'm not wearing earrings
  7. I need more shoes :0
As for the 15 bloggers to pass this on to, I'm not going to name 15 because Megan covered a lot of the people I would, and those people in turn did others I would mention as well.
  • Lori, even though I found her blog After [when you read her blog you'll understand] it's amazing that she can still write the way she does - she writes with such openness, it's beautiful
  • Joy, gorgeous photos
  • Greywulf, for his pictures.
  • Nielen, gorgeous photos too :)
  • Donnay, her blog is fun :)

The weekend that was

  • Friday afternoon a bee stung me :(
  • Friday evening, a birthday dinner for a friend, sadly the food and service was terrible.
  • We also bought two books at the Exclusive Books summer sale, and picked up my new spectacles.
  • Saturday afternoon we gamed, it was supposed to be rpging, but we played Dominion and Battlestar instead :)
  • Saturday evening we went to a tweetup and meet some cool people that game :)
  • Later that evening, my left leg was swollen and hurting, a lot, for an unknown reason. It hurt so badly that it even woke me from my sleep. Although the strongest pain med I took was a panado, because I had wine.
  • Sunday we saw a great flat and just took it easy.
  • How was your weekend?

Turn Jerall into a superstar

In this post, I mentioned that Jerall had made it to the top 32 of RPG Superstar. Round two has now opened for votes, advancement from this round onwards is all about the votes. So please vote for him. Yes, you'll need to register on the site to do so, but it's an easy process - you don't even need to verify any details. So vote and share this with everyone you know. Vote here.

This matters a lot to him, so help me help him. Thanks much :)

Awesome day

I had an awesome day yesterday :) I'll do the brief rundown in bullet points.
  • breakfast made by the boy
  • fiddling with my kick ass present
  • playing Dominion
  • escaping the heat of the flat and having kuai for lunch
  • restaurant hopping with some peeps; we went here, here - the one on the pier - and here
  • Market, the last place we went to, was a big hit with everyone. I see us going back there soon
  • not long after we got home Jerall found out that he made the top 32 in RPG Superstar. Top 32 is awesome, it's a big and highly competitive competition. The second round involves people voting for his idea, I'll let you know when you can vote ;)

Word Wednesday

I don't see many using this word, but it might prove useful at some point ;)

  • the adjective, pertains to the antiscii those who live on the same meridian, but on the opposite side of the equator, so that their shadows at noon fall in opposite directions.
  • the plural noun, antiscians, denotes persons who live on the opposite side of the earth from each other.

The weekend that was, and the birthday that is

It's my birthday today :) I'm 26, so far it doesn't feel any different to 25, which didn't feel different to 24...oh well. It's been a good day so far: Jerall made breakfast, I got a kick ass present and we've played some Dominion :) Soon we'll be going out for lunch, and we're going restaurant hopping with some friends for dinner :)

The weekend was a good one too. Saturday we watched Easy A, went to Essenwood Market and Green with Envy. Sunday was gaming :) How was yours?

Word Wednesday

I rather like the word for this week: antinomy
  • its legal meaning is "a contradiction within a law, or between laws"
  • its philosophical meaning is "a contradiction between two statements, both apparently obtained by correct reasoning"
  • it also has a general meaning - "an apparent or real opposition, contradiction, conflict, or contrast".

The weekend that was

The weekend past was a pretty good one. Friday we took it easy, well it was too hot to do much else really. Saturday morning, our neighbour - who happens to be a coffee judge, and hangs out with food critics - introduced us to a great Chinese food store and various great places to eat and get great coffee. We didn't eat at all the places, but she made sure we stopped there and took a look. It was so great that for my birthday - next Tuesday - we're going to go restaurant hopping for dinner :)

Saturday afternoon we ran some errands, including taking my phone in to be repaired. I'll not have a phone for the next 3 weeks :-/ The evening we went to Noelle's birthday braai. We gave her a Build-A-Bear voucher, and a jedi outfit for the bear once she builds him. I know that it seems more a present for a little person, but it's fun and cute and not something people tend to buy for themselves. The braai was fun.

Sunday we had brunch at one of the places pointed out to us on Saturday, and it was awesome. The rest of the day we took it pretty easy and played some Dominion :)

Pay it forward, blog style

Angel posted the challenge, Laura commented on her post, and I on hers.

Here's how it works.

  1. The blogger posting the offer must send something to the 5 commenters before the end of 2011.
  2. What is sent to the commenters must be handmade by the blogger.
  3. The commenters who ask to take part must post the same offer on their blogs, and then send something handmade to the five commenters who ask to take part, and so on and so on.
It seems like fun, and plus you get to send real mail...I love real mail :)

If you want to take part comment away.

Catch up

Happy 2011 everyone. I'm feeling lazy, but I need to get this first post of the new year out of the way so be prepared for bullet points :)
  • Despite the lovely rain, there were so hot days which meant beach visits :)
  • There has been, and there still is lots of rain. I love the rain, it helps kill some of the humidity.
  • Tons of sushi was consumed.
  • We went on a coffee appreciation course, which deserves it's own post later. Needless to say, instant coffee is not drunk by either of us anymore.
  • There was gaming, not as much as I'd thought there'd be, but enough.
  • The presents Jerall and I got each other was spot on.
  • Dominion Prosperity is the awesome.
  • Major sulking, by the boy, was avoided :)
  • Many movies were seen - Mega Mind, Spud and Voyage of the Dawn Treader were cute, Tron a waste of time and money despite being pretty and the seventh Harry Potter movie pretty much lived up to what I expected of it.
  • Healthy eating and exercise flew out the window.
  • We saw friends from CT, and did the Midlands Meander with them.
  • I have a new hair colour and a pop of bright colour too - it's my first time not sticking to natural looking shades.
  • Mostly we just relaxed and did nothing.
  • It's 12 days till my birthday :)
